Help Us Bring Light to Boka Village: Solar Power System Installation for a Rural Health Clinic in Cameroon

By World Forgotten Children Foundation on Jun 11, 2025

World Forgotten Children Foundation (WFCF) is excited to share an important new initiative in partnership with the Centre for Community Development and Environment Restoration (CENCUDER). We’ve identified an urgent need in Boka Village, Cameroon—where the local health clinic operates without electricity—and we’re already halfway to funding the solution.

WFCF has raised 50% of the $5,000 goal to install a solar power system that will transform the clinic’s ability to care for more than 1,000 residents across three rural villages. Now, we’re calling on you—our dedicated supporters—to help us raise the remaining funds and officially bring this life-saving project to completion.

The Need

Boka Village, located in Cameroon’s remote Bangem Subdivision, is severely underserved. The nearest hospital is more than 43 miles away, and the local health clinic—often the only source of care—operates without electricity or a generator. Staff rely on candles and kerosene lamps, putting both patients and caregivers at risk.

Without power, the clinic cannot safely perform nighttime deliveries, store vaccines, or respond to emergencies. Children, pregnant women, and patients with chronic conditions often go without the essential care they need, leading to preventable illness, complications, and even death.

The Solution

This solar energy project will provide clean, reliable power to the Boka health clinic by installing:

  • Solar panels, batteries, and inverters
  • Lighting for 24/7 operations
  • Refrigeration for vaccines and emergency blood storage
  • Charging stations and radio communication tools

This community-driven initiative will also empower local residents by involving them in the transportation, installation, and maintenance of the solar system. Trained technicians and a modest clinic fee structure will ensure sustainability long after the project is completed.

Expected Impact

  • Safe childbirth and pediatric emergency care at any hour
  • Reduced respiratory illness from kerosene exposure
  • Increased vaccine effectiveness through cold storage
  • Safer working conditions for clinic staff
  • Empowered community engagement in long-term health solutions

Over 400 children will directly benefit from this project, along with hundreds of pregnant women and other vulnerable patients.

Light the Way Forward—With Us

WFCF’s mission is rooted in bringing essential resources to children and families in underserved regions. This project embodies that mission—and with your support, we can finish what we’ve started.

We’ve raised the first half of the funds. Help us raise the remaining $2,500 to bring light, health, and hope to Boka Village.

Donate today and be part of a lasting transformation in a community that needs us now more than ever.
