World Forgotten Children Foundation (WFCF) is excited to share an impactful new initiative in partnership with the Tanzania League of the Blind (TLB). Together, we are working to empower visually impaired children by providing them with the educational tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed.
We’ve identified a pressing need in Tanzania’s Ikungi and Singida Urban Districts, where children with visual impairments are severely limited in their access to appropriate learning resources. We are proud to report that we have already raised 50% of the $5,000 needed to fund this project—and now, we turn to you, our generous supporters, to help us raise the remaining funds and officially bring this effort to life.
Project Overview
With your support, the TLB Uyui Branch will be able to procure and distribute:
- 4 Packing Braille Machines – enabling children to write and interact with learning materials independently.
- 45 A4 Frames – essential for tactile learning and Braille literacy development.
These tools will directly support 25 socially and economically marginalized children, giving them the opportunity to access a more inclusive and enriching education.
Why This Project Matters
A recent study conducted by TLB found that 87% of children with visual impairments in the targeted districts live in extreme poverty. Without access to assistive tools, these children are at a significant disadvantage in the classroom and in their communities.
This initiative addresses not only educational inequality but also the broader issues of social exclusion and systemic neglect. Providing these resources is a powerful step toward affirming the dignity, independence, and potential of every child, regardless of ability.
